Pickler grew up in a difficult family. Her mother left her at the age of two to escape from an abusive relationship. Then she returned to Pickler's life in 1995 and was given custody of her. It did not work out well. Her grandparents took care of her from the age of 12 up to the age of adulthood. Pickler needed to look after of her siblings without her parents. She confessed that, in the absence of parents, Pickler's schedule was so busy that she could not attend school. She instead began learning how to take care of her family at an earlier age.
