Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actress singer and writer. When she was a kid she was subjected to racial taunts by many people in America. When she was in 9th grade she felt more secure after being acknowledged by her teachers as a success when she sang at the school's audition. The experience not only boosted her self-confidence but also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. She graduated from New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. When she turned 23 she began her career in Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Then, aged 23, her movie debut was You've Got Mail. Her biggest breakthrough was when she starred in the character of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway production of Spamalot winning not just her the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. In the year following, she joined the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. In addition to being a popular singer, she also released her own solo album and a longer piece. She also works as an LGBT activist.
